It has a new carb on it by the PO and runs like a scalded dog now, I just don't need to be fouling up your air, and my air that I am breathing while weed whackin'. If the lower end (crank/rod assembly) is toast, then yep.I am just SOL and will return the parts I bought, as I am not opening them up until I check the low end. ![]() There are no OEM Stihl FS 80 heads around and even if there were= MAJOR $$$$.Īnd with my "present" understanding of how internal combustion engines work, the parts in the pic coming in to my door today, "should" take care of the smoking. Turn the H screw clockwise with a carburetor adjustment tool until the head is spinning as fast as it will go, then back off the screw carefully until the RPMs start to decrease. Trimmer line gets old and your problems will get much worse when it does. I am getting a new head (it has no sleeves) which is a gamble I know, as it is an aftermarket unit. Start the trimmer and hold the throttle trigger in all the way to get the trimmer head spinning at maximum speed. ONLY use the size (diameter) of trimmer line that the manufacturer of your trimmer recommends, thicker line is NOT better Lastly, purchase a quality name brand trimmer line and no more of it than you will use up in one season. ![]() Now there ya go ED, making me doubt my mechanickin' talents and I have not even started the project yet Stihl FS 56 RC Straight-Shaft String Trimmer / Weed Whacker. ![]()
